Some beautiful pictures from Xian in Wuxi

The cherry trees gives flowers already in februar in this part of the world.
Wuxi is a ”small” suburb to Shanghai with between 5 and 6 million inhabitants. I suggest you visit this city before these guys discover how much they have to show us from the west. The prices for hotel, food, taxi and other things are still very affordable here compared to our prices in the west. I’ve been using luxury hotels from 30€ a night. This part of China has always been considered as a fruitful part of China. You’ve always seen a lot of ricefields, corn and fishing here. Other important products that where made here is potteries and handycraft from jade or pearls. Potteries has been made here since 1800 years. Mostly in the town Jingdeshen, just about 100 km northeast from Nanchang. This province is a part of the original China and where called Han. Most chinese consider themselve as Han people. Later the porcelain and potteries where taken to the southeast chinese sea where they where shipped all over the world. Like to Gothenburg Sweden. Nanchang means ”the south be prosperous” and many people still use the name ”South Chang”. The south(or Nan)Chang, is the provincial capital of river west province or Jiangxi. The total area for Nanchang is 7400 square kilometers, total population 4,400,000. In the city Nanchang you’ll find nearly 2 million inhabitants.

Ba Yi Square is a famous square in the middle of Nanchang. From here you’ll see most of the hotels and are just five minutes away from the tengwang pavillion .

The name Bay-yi means eight one in chinese. This name comes from the uprising by the public army the 1:st of august 1927. So in modern China, the army is also known as ba-yi(Eight One) army. The PLA(People Liberation Army) logo consists of the letters for ba-yi. The uprising where done by soldiers led by Zhu De and Zhou Enlai who started a mutineer against KMT(Kuomintang) in Nanchang. They where beaten, but many of these soldiers escaped to the Jinggang Mountains along the border of Hunan and Jiangxi provinces. Here they built up the Red Army. Zhu De is considered as the founder of the Red Army.

After the incident, the Red Army where incorporated into the KuoMingTang or Chinese army. The Red Army got the name Eighth Route Army in KMT and was the biggest part of two units in the KMT. Eighth Route Army was basically a very useful guerrilla army. Sometime at the end of WW Two, the Red Army was renamed to PLA and that is the current name. On the square you’ll see a lot of symbols for 81 revolutionary moments in Nanchang history.

8/1 squares and 8/1 revolts monuments

This is how the city now calls the Ba Yi square. The original name for this area where people square. The 8/1 squares are symbolising the Nanchang 8/1 main roads on the land sector. As the official Nanchang website describes it ”8/1 squares are Nanchang’s windows, four sides is leads to the city four directions for the nonstop main road, here also is a center where the Nanchang resident moves.” You often see various government affairs and the commercial activity every year in this square. This will say the square is a sort of central for the citys roads, communication and other important things in the city. In the center of the square you’ll find towers and statues with 8/1 revolutionary moments from Nanchangs uprising the 1 of august 1927.
